Site Editor Project
The aim of this project was to create an interface capable of integrating personalized items into e-commerce websites.
In this project, my role involved identifying user preferences by analyzing their dissatisfaction with our previous site editor.
THE PROBLEM
The users faced difficulties in effectively incorporating personalized items into their e-commerce pages using the existing editor. Furthermore, they struggled to grasp the full range of functionalities and possibilities offered by the editor.
THE GOAL
To improve user understanding and the user flow of the process of adding personalized items to e-commerce pages, while enhancing the clarity and accessibility of editor functionalities.
APPROACH
User Research
My product manager and I conducted comprehensive user research to identify pain points and understand user struggles with the existing editor. By analyzing open tickets and feedback from customer success teams, we uncovered recurring issues, user frustrations, and valuable insights. Together, we created solutions by collaborating closely with stakeholders, including the customer success and development teams, to validate requirements. Through ongoing communication and feedback loops, we ensured our solutions addressed user needs while being technically feasible and aligned with business goals.
Simplified Placement Process
Revamped the placement process by introducing intuitive and user-friendly features. Simplified drag-and-drop functionality, contextual tooltips, and clear visual cues were implemented to guide users in precisely placing their personalized items on their e-commerce pages.
User Testing
Following the beta release of the editor, we conducted interviews with 10 users to gather feedback on their experience. The results were positive, with 7 out of 10 users expressing a positive feedback. For the remaining users who did provide negative feedback, their concerns were primarily related to specific features they wished to see incorporated into the editor. We have taken their feedback into account and are actively working on implementing those desired features to enhance the overall user experience.
This positive reception and the minimal negative feedback validate the effectiveness of our design decisions and the improvements made during the project.
RESULTS
The revamped interface significantly improved user comprehension and reduced confusion regarding placing personalized items on e-commerce pages. User feedback and post-implementation testing indicated a marked increase in user satisfaction and confidence while utilizing the editor. The refined user experience ultimately led to increased engagement and conversions for e-commerce websites.
